Peru...Dia Uno!!!

Hola amigos!!!!

We have officially landed in beautiful Peru! After about 15 hours of fun filled flight jumping and an accidental 8 lb overweight bag (oopsies!! wonder who's that was...) we have safely landed in a comatose state at 5 am where we were welcomed by Jorge! Jorge is our dos amigas excellente driver and of course he spotted Danny right away (there is something about that guy that is so spot on, everyone seems to migrate to him when we travel.) We were just glad to be found! Here's a couple pics from our flights...

Leaving on a jet plane!

No pictures please, papparazzi......

View out my window, we will miss you San Diego!!.....and Corbin......

Ingraham Street Bridges

La Jolla, view from above...

First Cerveza of the trip!

Only a couple of hours in and still looking chipper...

After getting to Tom and Jessica's and having a brief power nap we woke up just in time to sample some cebiche Peruvian style! (basically fresh halibut with a squeeze of lemon and lime juice, onions with a sprinkle of cilantro, yummy!) and Pisco Sour the Pervian cocktail said to knock you on your ass. I thought it kind of tasted like a coconut and lime margarita......

So yummy!

La Canta Rana

Pic looking out La Puerta from our table

Danny and his new telephono!

This is where we are staying at Tom and Jessica's place, its a top floor condo just a block from the beach.....

The sundeck lounge, Danny's sitting up there reading his book now...

Kitchenette on the deck

love the laundry and seashells...beach livin...

view across the deck looking down, at a garden...

The park and boardwalk from the sundeck ....

The round-a-bout....an ovalo!!! full of honking and weedwacking...

Rooftop garden across from us...

Looking east from the sundeck, rooftop gardens and basilica in background...

View of ocean and park...

Similar to mexico, there are abandoned buldings standing next to new ones...thought this was beautiful in it's own way...

After, Jessica showed us around a little we hopped on their bikes and road around the boardwalk and through the local towns of Miraflores and Barranco. Miraflores is a gorgeous area with cliffside parks and a boardwalk over looking the ocean and, of course my love, fantastic architecture (that's where we are staying with Tom and Jessica). I made Danny stop a million times to take pictures...I think he'll last another few days of this before he wants to be in charge of the camera.....

Glistening couple stopping on our bike ride...

Island off the coast...

Coastline looking toward Barranco....

Beautiful lighthouse....didn't think they would have something like this here...

Contemporary architecture and cool tropical plants...

Tudor style house...

Contemporary condo built on the cliffside...

Jessica says a place like this for a 3 bedroom with maids quarters is about $3,000 a month...not bad when compared to La Jolla...

Liked the platform glass deck of this place, supported on steel beams floating above the house, super contemporary...

I liked this place because of the hexagonal room with two top decks....

New Orleans looking house, gothic colonial...

Neoclassical home in Barranco....

Victorian Tudor...

Spanish Colonial....

Retaurant on the Getty...

Park in front of the Spanish Colonial house...

Sunset on the first day...

We just got back for a little R&R and then off to Tom's hotel where they are gambling off surf boards, woohoo!...for every 30 soles ($10) you spend you get a raffle ticket to enter to win (maybe Danny will win one he can use for the trip!) It's so nice here so far and I hope you guys enjoy all the pics! There will be more to come so check back regularily now that you have the blog address!
