Day 8...

We awake at 6 am to be the first ones on the mountain...
...Here is the walkway along the river, our adventures start now...
Raging river running through the village of Aguas Calientes,
at the base of the mountain...

... Morning dew on the canopy walkway looking out across the other mountain peaks...

...Come take a walk with me, I need to burn off all the cusquena...

...Inca walls, just a little village life in the morning...

...Another view of the steep incline...the stacked stone is everywhere...

Evian spring mountain water...

...My new blogspot...
...sitting buddah style on my rock under my little sprout tree, perfect!...

My little friend, the chinchilla...

...Ok are you ready, start climbing....
...looking up up and away toward the watchiman lookout point...
...that's a whole lot of rock...can you see the sprinkle of llamas roaming about...
.....there was virtually no one around but Danny and I...and about 20 llamas...
...crossing the little bridge...don't slip, it's rainy...
...Our little rest stop for this leg of the race...boulder, party of two....finest restaurant in town...

...Window into the soul...
...I don't think he gets it...

...small town life...

...Danny trying to blend in and not look like a tourist...
...be the wall Danny, be the wall...

....just another day in the burbs...

...Huuuh!!...you try breathing at 11,000 feet and doing the stairmaster...
...oh, I mean, what a beautiful sight with the llamas grazing in their natural form...
...A little llama leeewwy!!!

....Sorry Corbin, there's a new man in my life...I think his name is Morton...

...I think we should ask the Dali llama for advice...let's get in line...

...Danny is going to now perform a triple back handspring swan dive into the river,
....now this has never been attempted before so we need the audience at home to be silent...

...Going down, first floor please...

...Wooooahh, Danny always takes the easy way down...

...This place reminded me of Labrynth...
...I was waiting for the little caterpillar to pop out any minute and say
.....'Allo...would you like to come in for a spot of tea with me and the misses?...
....As if going up to Machu Picchu wasn't enough,
we decided to start hiking up the Inca trail...
...It's a three day hike into Cusco where our plane landed,
an original trek for the Incan's looking to sell their goods in town,
...but we only went an hour up to the top of Incapicchu, the peak in the background...

...The road to paradise...
....the bus zig-zags all the way up...
...we took it up, but decided to walk all the way down
the top of Incapicchu...
...I think we were suffering from an altitude high,
because that was a crazy hike...
...about 2 hours straight down the rocky steps...

...The top of Incapicchu on the 3 day Inca trail...
...a very memorable place...
...You can look out and see everything from here...

...You can't buy this kind of bromelaide at Home Depot...
....thought it was going to whip out its tongue and swallow us whole
just like from Little Shop of Horrors...

...Orchids, bromelaides, and vines take over trees here...

... Journey down the mountain...

...A little thing called Plastic...

...Which bridge should we take to the Hot Springs, hunny?...

The Bar of Reflection...
...and other questionable objects...at the top of the Hot Springs...

...If you saw the indian hippie that was manning the bar,
with his jet black long hair and indian head band with beaded feathers and woven vest...
....it would all start to make sense to you then too...
...Laying my hat down next to my beer...a potted cactus...and an incense burner....
....Such an amazing day!
Our last stop before we hopped back on the train was in the
central Plaza in Aguas Calientes to have a little Pisco Sour,
some enchiladas Peruvian style...
....and of course Danny had the Amburger with fries...good times!!!
See you back in Cusco before our flight home to Lima!!!
